Anti-Meth Legislation Gets Unfavorable Reactions

Currently, there is a bill in the Missouri Senate, SB 160, that would require all over the counter (OTC) medications that include pseudoephedrine as an ingredient to be a prescription only product.

What the bill would effectively establish is putting pseudoephedrine products into the Schedule III category of drugs, making it a controlled substance and requiring that every patient who comes into a pharmacy and desires the effective version of cold medicines (with pseudoephedrine) have a prescription for that medication. Currently, you do not need a prescription to get cold products OTC.
